Pretty Darn Quick Seed Mix
for Mesic (Medium) Soils
Winner of the 2013 Direct Gardening Association Green Thumb Award for outstanding new product. This top-selling mix includes "pretty-darn-quick"-to-establish prairie flowers and grasses to provide
more immediate color and a naturalized look. For full-sun to
partial-shade sites with medium soils. The maximum height of any single grass or flower included here is no more than 4-5 feet.
If planted early in the growing season, most of the plants in the "PDQ" mix will establish in the first year. Some blooms can be expected in year one but this should not stop you from mowing that season. Clipping or cutting will not harm the plants and blooms should be profuse in the second and third years.
Mix components shown in the corresponding photos include, mid-summer
bloomers: Purple Coneflower, Wild Bergamot, Black-eyed Susan, Purple
Prairie Clover, and Yellow Coneflower. Early Summer: Foxglove
Beardtongue, Early Sunflower and Little Bluestem. Fall: Showy
Goldenrod, Sky Blue Aster and Little Bluestem.
