Laura came to Prairie Moon Nursery shortly after graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Environmental Resource Management. While working as a student assistant at the Tallgrass Prairie Center, she became captivated by the prairie ecosystem. The insect interactions with native plants she observed while growing prairie plants fascinated her. Her favorite insect is the mesmerizing Hummingbird Clearwing Moth (Hemaris thysbe). She followed the trail of seed packets and catalogs at the center back to Prairie Moon’s website and applied for the Sales Representative position. It’s been a symbiotic relationship ever since!

After work, you can find Laura watercolor painting and pastel drawing. She offers her artwork for sale at local art fairs and online. Outside of the art studio, she’s usually hiking, biking, or canoeing in the beautiful Driftless Area. Laura also enjoys indie music concerts and stand-up comedy shows.
