• BARE ROOT PLANTS - Since our plants are field grown, nature sets the schedule each year as to when our digging season will begin and end. Our Minnesota climate sometimes provides us with April or October snows and/or frozen ground, heavy rains, etc. We fill all orders to the best of our ability depending on conditions beyond our control. In the spring, plants are normally shipped from April to mid May, with some species available until mid June. Best results can be expected, however, if transplanting is done in April.  The fall plant shipping season usually runs through the month of October.  (Please note that we do not ship plants outside the contiguous United States.)

• POTTED PLANTS - We advertise our trays of 38 potted plants shipping mid-May through mid-July.  Earlier shipment requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis; many species are not transit-hardy before mid-May.  Special pricing can be given on trays of 10+; please contact us for a quote.
  

• SEED - We ship seed year-round. Most orders ship within a day or 2 upon receipt.
  

Shipping & Handling Charges

• For PLANT ORDERS $50.00 and under: $7.50
• For PLANT ORDERS over $50.00 add 15% of the total plant cost
• For SEED ORDERS $100.00 and under: $5.00
• For SEED ORDERS over $100.00 add 5% of the total seed cost
• For POTTED PLANT (trays of 38) add $13 per tray (call for pricing on 10+ trays)
• Books, garden tags, and inoculum are postpaid within the contiguous US (shipping fee included)
  

Delivery

We ship using USPS, UPS and Spee Dee. Since UPS and Spee Dee do not recognize Post Office Box numbers, it is important to include your street address or rural route number with your order form.

If you need to receive your plant order on a certain day (Monday through Friday), please include your preferred arrival date in the 'customer notes' during the online checkout process.  We will contact you if the requested delivery dates is not feasible or if there will be an additional charge for expedited shipping.

Seed Shipments to Canada

We do not ship plants to Canada, but seeds are available year-round to Canadian customers.  Please be aware that seeds are occasionally held up at Customs, returned to us undeliverable, or do not arrive.  Although these cases are rare, we cannot accept responsibility for these US-Canada Post anomalies.  If seeds are returned to us in a timely manner we can refund the cost of the seed, but not the shipping fee.  We are unable to track orders sent with the US Post Office (our usual shipping method to Canada).  Prepayment in US funds is required.  Shipping & handling charges for Canadian seed shipments are:

• For SEED ORDERS $50.00 and under: $22.00 (** As of February, 2013 the base fee USPS is charging for Global Priority Mail significantly increased and therefore we are forced to charge this fee - $7 higher than last year.  We are sorry for the excessive fee but we must cover our costs.)
  
• For SEED ORDERS over $50.00 add 40% of the total seed cost
  
  

Pick-up Orders

We are a mail order nursery and have no retail facilities, but you may pick up your order if prior arrangements are made. There is no handling charge for orders picked up at the nursery but customers must pay the 6.875% state sales tax.

State Sales Tax

Minnesota residents are required to pay 6.875% sales tax. Please note that shipping and handling charges are also subject to the 6.875% tax.

Please note: Delivery days do not include the day we send out your parcel, weekends, or holidays. To assure minimum time in transit we ship plants early in the week. 1 day delivery in IL excludes the the Chicago area (606 zip code), which is 2 day delivery.
