Tradescantia occidentalis (Western Spiderwort)
Tradescantia occidentalis (Western Spiderwort) is native to savannas and drier prairies.  Western Spiderwort has foliage that is long and leafy, which also resembles that of the day lily. The beautiful blue green leaves of this plant make it very attractive.  It is heat and drought tolerant.

The plants that are grown in full shade will in fact have less flowers than those grown in full sun. When grown in fertile soils, Tradescantia occidentalis can in fact become aggressive and will self-seed well
