Companion Plants and Products
Monarda fistulosa (Wild Bergamot)
Wild Bergamot provides the characteristic aroma of Earl Grey tea and is a favorite of butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.
Eryngium yuccifolium (Rattlesnake Master)
Rattlesnake Master matures to a height of 4' and has white, attractive "bristly" flowers. The latin name, Eryngium yuccifolium, comes from the fact that the
leaves look very much like a Yucca plant.
Pycnanthemum virginianum (Mountain Mint)
Pycnanthemum means "densely flowered," an attribute that enables Mountain Mint to accommodate many pollinators at once. The light green foliage is visually pleasing, making it a nice garden choice even when not flowering.
Veronicastrum virginicum (Culver's Root)
Culver's Root can be planted in perennial gardens, providing an elegant upright accent. It does well in full sun but really thrives in savanna situations.
Liatris spicata (Marsh Blazing Star)
Also commonly called Dense Blazing Star.
