[Steve] – (June 5)
Hi. This is Steve at Prairie Moon Nursery.
I’m in front of our new office here in the planting that we did last year.
Here is the Prairie Smoke, Geum triflorum. It’s really one of the favorite (native) species – people are always asking for it and asking about it after they’ve seen it, say, at a State Park. We planted these last year and they are really doing well now; and I think this is a pretty good situation for it up on the ridge here, It gets pretty dry. It likes a dry situation. It seems to do well both in light soils and heavy soils.

Some of the other species it would do well with are the Lupine , the Lupinus perennis, Northern Dropseed, Little Bluestem, Side Oats Grama – all of the dry-mescic to even mesic species it would do well with.
