[Steve] – These are the Pasque Flower. Arnel (our Garden Manager) was telling me that he planted the seed here in the fall of 2007. He planted in the fall so the seed naturally went through the overwintering – the stratification process out here in the gardens. He was telling me he put about 1/8 inch of this nice mixture of compost and sand over the top of the seed – only about 1/8 inch. The Pasque Flower does have a relatively large seed (count) at 18,000 seeds/oz. so thus he did put some soil on top of it.
So, here we are, a year and a half later and they are fully blooming mature plants.
This video was shot April 16.
