Early Spring Bloomers

A customer and blog subscriber requested we  ‘SHOW OUR SPRING BLOOMERS’!  You can easily search through our 600+ natives species to find specific criteria such as ‘April bloom time’ by using the Plant Finder – found in the header of our website.

Here are some native species that will be peeking out in the next few weeks and blooming shortly after:

Rue Anemone (Anemonella thalictroides)

Pasque Flower (Anemone patens wolfgangiana)

Marsh Marigold (Caltha palustris)

Wild Hyacinth (Camassia scilloides)

Dutchman's Breeches (Dicentra cucullaria)

Midland Shooting Star (Dodecatheon meadia)

White Trout Lily (Erythronium albidum)

Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia virginica)

Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis)

Common Oak Sedge (Carex pensylvanica)

    Beautiful – and what a quick response! I didn’t even think of using your great website tools, and I’m always near a computer – much more information at my fingertips than if I wait until I’m at home near my books…

    Oh, that picture of the Virginia Bluebells has me looking forward to spring growth! Seeing white blooms will be great, but seeing actual colored flowers is really going to lift my mood. Makes me glad I scattered three packs of bluebell seeds in the back yard back in January… I hope to see seedlings in the next few weeks! :)
